Emergency Services - When to Seek Emergency Medical Care

Serious medical conditions require the special care of an ER provider and staff and quick access to hospital services. We encourage you to seek treatment in the Emergency Department for any of the following conditions:

  • Confusion or loss of consciousness
  • Sudden, severe and uncontrollable pain
  • Severe shortness of breath that prevents you from speaking
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Possible poisoning or overdose
  • Accidents involving head injury or broken bones
  • Severe or worsening reaction to insect bite or medication (especially if breathing is difficult)
  • Feelings of wanting to hurt yourself or sudden unexpected changes in behavior
  • Severe dog bites
  • Bleeding that won't stop
  • Seizures
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Fainting
  • Sudden dizziness, weakness or change in vision
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
